TNG 2x19
"Manhunt"

Original airdate: 6/19/1989
Rewatch date: 9/26/2011

Lwaxana Troi comes to the Enterprise in search of a husband.

Spoiler-free notes:

Pacifica, where the conference is the be held, is also where the Enterprise was headed before being diverted to Starfleet HQ in "Conspiracy."

I love Worf: "What a handsome race."

Picard using Data to sabotage dinner is pretty funny, if a little canned.

There's that word "snootful" again.

It's weird how nonchalantly they capture two potential terrorists who were planning on killing thousands of people at the end of the episode. It's just "take them to level 5" and then on with the silliness.

This episode is trying too hard to be light-hearted, and as a result, it winds up feeling uninspired. It's only the second season, and already the writers are going back to the trough, finding old storylines to recycle. The thing is, the Lwaxana Troi being wacky worked better in "Haven" and the Dixon Hill stuff was fresher and more entertaining in "The Big Goodbye." There's very little in the way of interesting science-fiction here, only running gags and goofy, winky, sitcom-level hijinks.
