History:In 1998, I started out my sophomore year at the University of Florida with a new roommate, Darius Jackson. He was something of an eccentric, but he and I became fast friends and started toying with a music program of his called MODPLUG. It wasn't long before we were writing songs that we would play for friends at parties. Eventually, we decided to polish up some work and "release" an album together called Shocking Duality. We made copies and covers from the comfort of our dorm rooms (when this happened, we no longer shared a room) and distributed them amongst friends, family, and casual acquiantences. We instantly received positive feedback and realized that we could, in theory, be taken seriously some day.I would later "release" an album of my own solo work, e. magill's Death Fixation, but there's no need to mention that horrible experience, and Darius and I, along with Surok would also go on to produce an album called Triumverance: Duality in the Third Degree. After these two experiences, which didn't satisfy us as much as Shocking Duality had, we decided to produce another electronic album, just the two of us, under the band name "Duality." We put a lot of effort into our product, which we called simply Duality 1.0, and when we were finished, we realized that we had created something special again. The album eventually went up on MP3.com and would eventually spawn another short album, 1.5, earn us a tiny bit of press in the St. Pete Times and get us nominated for a Gay & Lesbian music award (we were willing to act if we won the award, but rest assured that neither Darius nor myself is actually gay) while we gathered our steam for a bold, new work. Our next album was to be titled Duality: Gullible Devin and the Down-Syndrome Cat, and we created and polished several of our best songs for that album. One of our unreleased songs, "After Aryana," did get some radio play in Orlando and was the first song of ours to feature vocals. Alas, things fell apart over time and distance, and Duality, while neither Darius nor myself will give up hope for the future of it, is currently no more. As for Darius, he and I formed an alternative rock band with a handful of other people, a band that is also no more, called Brian's Front Porch. That band has continued without me, in the form of the highly talented and moderately successful fAlterboy. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
